I know it has been awhile since my last post. Life has been busy, but in many great ways. One such way is the recent talk I had with the Volusia/Flagler chapter of the ACLU Florida. I was invited to be a speaker in their”Racial Justice Speaker Series” on July 12.

In my talk I presented a brief history of civil rights in America by looking at important court cases covering five areas: citizenship, the criminal justice system, voting, housing, and integration. The cases I cover are from my “Untold Stories” series, and included Dred Scott v. Sanford, The Civil Rights Cases of 1883, Plessy v. Ferguson, Shelley v. Kraemer, Gomillion v. Lightfoot, Batson v. Kentucky, and McClesky v. Kemp.

The discussion was recorded via zoom, but the introduction was missed. However, nothing of substance has been lost. Please forgive my dog, Benjamin Matlock, yes, that is his name. Apparently he too wanted to join and attempted to insert himself into the discussion too 🙈😆.
